Weekly Update for April 28, 2026

The Data

  • 7 detentions reported to the hotline 4/21-4/28

  • Oregon detentions reported in Multnomah, Lane and Washington counties; additional detentions of Oregonians reported in Washington and Florida

  • 2 detentions reported at Macadam ICE facility

This week we continue to see detentions of members of the Lao community, including the beloved owner of the Khao Niew foodcart at PSU, which will be closing as a result of his detention. (you can support his new start by going to https://gofund.me/052161442)

It is a reminder that detentions impact all of us; our lives are more entwined than we sometimes think they are, and when our neighbors are taken, their are personal, financial, and community impacts that reverberate. Beloved people and touchpoints in our community are changed forever.

PIRC Friend of the Week

PCUN (Pineros Y Campesinos Unidos del Noroeste)

PCUN’s mission is to empower farmworkers and working Latinx families in Oregon by building community, increasing Latinx representation in elections, and policy advocacy on both the national and state levels. They are the seat of the Oregon for All coalition, Day Without an Immigrant campaign, and leading the organizing for the May 1 May Day general strike and statewide satellite events, and we celebrate PCUN’s leadership! Head to Mayday.pcun.org to register ahead of the event; and if you can’t make it to Salem, go to https://www.daywithoutanimmigrantor.com/events to find MayDay actions near you!

For those in the metro area, please come say hi to us at our table at the MayDay event in Portland:
