Detentions in OR maps for March 2026

Of note this week

We are seeing an increase in detentions of members of Southeast Asian communities, especially folks from Laos in 2026. Here are some steps you can take to protect you and your loved ones

  1. Know Your Rights! Go to tinyurl.com/PIRC25 to access fliers in a number of languages; please be sure to share them in your community

  2. If you receive a letter or phone call ordering you to appear at an ICE field office within 1-2 weeks, make SURE you consult a lawyer before going.

  3. If you do not have a lawyer, now is a good time to find one. If you cannot afford a lawyer, call ECO, Oregon’s Universal Representation provider at 1-888-274-7292. Preregistration in ECO is fast, and can allow attorneys to intervene prior to a detention; if you are detained, having your information can make a difference in being able to coordinate rapid response legal support.

  4. If your appointment is in Portland, connect with PIRC/CLEAR legal observers, standing in front of the Macadam building before you enter for your appointment. They will take your biographical information and emergency contact to activate support if you are detained.

Also of note:

2 detentions occurred inside the Marion County Courthouse this past week, with one of these arrests involving agents using an administrative (non judicial warrant).

This violates Oregon State Law, which prohibits civil arrests in state courthouses without a judicial warrant.

Oregon DOJ and immigration legal partners are investigating. A reminder that if you witness police-ICE collaboration or ICE arrests within Oregon courthouses, you can report not only to the PIRC hotline but also to the Sanctuary Promise hotline: 844-924-7829.

Just a reminder for us all
