Weekly Update for January 20, 2026
The Data
18 detentions reported to the hotline this past week
Detentions primarily occurred in Multnomah County, with a few in Washington County
We attribute this decrease to the surge in agents occupying Minnesota at this time
Of Note
See something? Say something: call the hotline if you witness drones or other unusual, surveillance-style activity in your community
We received continued reports of surveillance in communities ICE is targeting; they may not be detaining as many in communities this week, but they certainly were around and taking data.
Early morning detentions, including a group on their way to work at Del Monte and a family in the parking lot of the Adventist Emergency Room
This is the second detention near Adventist in two weeks. People who are at risk may want to consider getting a ride if they need to go to Adventist or adjacent clinics.
Increase in detentions at the Macadam ICE facility this week versus recent months. At least 4 people were reported detained to PIRC through the hotline or PIRC Resource Center last week.
If you or a loved one need to go to the Macadam ICE facility, please make sure that your emergency contact knows your biographical information:
Full legal name and "A number" if applicable
Data and year of birth, and country of birth
Whether you have a lawyer, and their contact information
Also make sure that the person has a copy of any important documents, keys, and a list of medications
Reminder
If you are a Legal Observer or MigraWatcher, we recommend that you also make sure you buddy up, and make sure someone knows:
Your full legal name
Emergency contact
Date and year of birth
And please let us konw if you experience any intimidation or violence while documenting ICE activity!
Partner Highlight of the Week
There's a special place in PIRC's heart for our strategic thought partners at Portland Rising Tide and the Movement Training Network. If you've taken a MigraWatch training, you've probably seen these incredible organizers at work, showing up in solidarity to train and grow our rapid response infrastructure.
