26 detentions reported July 1-July 9
As in much of the country, we are seeing an increase in detentions around Oregon, following a nationwide trend of a "Silent Surge":
This is the 3rd straight week of more than 20 detentions being reported to the hotline
Counties that have historically seen less ICE activity are reporting detentions
There has been an uptick in detentions in community; specifically while people are driving/in transit
4 detentions this week were reported of individuals working as delivery drivers or ride share drivers
This is a good time to remember what we already know works: WE Keep Us Safe!
If you see a community member being detained, PLEASE let us know as soon as you safely can. Minutes can matter in getting documentation and assistance!

If you are out in your community, stay vigilant! Pull over and call us if you suspect you see a detention happening.
Remember that in Oregon, you have the right to record and document interactions with ICE and law enforcement. Badge number, agency, vehicle descriptions: this information helps us determine how to support a family.
Remember that the goal is to document the actions of ICE, not our neighbors in their most vulnerable moments while being detained.

Remember to be CLEAR when you report to the PIRC hotline:
Count: How many vehicles and agents you see
Location: We are a statewide hotline so please include nearest cross streets and city
Equipment: Vehicle descriptions, uniforms, descriptions of what they are using
Activity: Pulling someone over, handcuffing, knocking on doors etc
Report Time and Date:
Pro tip: you can narrate all of these points while recording, as well!
