Of Note: 1016 Oregonians

  • This week PIRC hit the heartbreaking marker of over 1,000 people having been reported detained to the hotline since beginning to track this data at the end of June.

  • Many of the 1,000+ were detained illegally without warrants, under false pretense, and in ways that cause mental, physical, and property damage.

Multiple detentions in the last weeks happened when ICE has poseed as someone who is interested in purchasing a car from someone they have targeted.

If you are selling a car:

  • Make sure your loved ones have your biographical information before meeting potential buyers

    • Full legal name, a phone number if you have one, date, year and country of birth, and if you have a lawyer, theier contact info

  • Have someone record the interaction when you meet a buyer

Holiday updates

The PIRC Resource Center held a toy drive last week for children who come to Macadam for appointments.

The PIRC Resource Center will be CLOSED on December 24 - 26 and January 1st & 2nd. The hotline will remain available 24/7 through the holidays.

The ACLU and ACLU of Oregon are interseted in hearing from individuals who have experienced, witnessed, or are aware of interference, intimidation, or retaliation by DHS, CBP, ICE, or other federal agents, while photographing, filming, livestreaming, or otherwise recording immigration enforcement activity.

Interference, intimidation, and retaliation can take multiple forms, including verbal threats (to stop or arrest, invoking a criminal statute, etc.), physical threats (e.g. a raised gun), physical interference (e.g. touching you oro your equipment, pushing you, etc.), questioning, arrest, and/or detention.
